But before you start make sure to be safe as you are dealing with electrical appliances and cords and no one wants to spend an electrocuted Christmas Eve!

- Test’em before you hang’em
You do not want to discover faulty bulbs or connections and gaps in your lightings after you have hung them on the tall tree.
The hassle of taking them down again and then repairing and re-installing is avoidable if you simply check the whole strand before you hang it.
- Stay within a limit of three
When you are connecting more than one light strands, do not exceed a total of three.
- Categorize your strands
Before connecting two strings, make sure that they both have the same number of bulbs attached to them.
Categorize your strings according to the number of bulbs.
If you connect a 100-bulb string with a 50-bulb string, the latter will burn out before the prior.
- Do not overload
Do not put more than the recommended load on an extension cord.
A 9-feet extension cord that has three plug receptacles can support three light sets per receptacle.
Make sure that you do not exceed this number.
Also, each plug receptacle can support one bulb count only.
So, hang 100-bulb strings to one, 50 to another, and 35 to the last one. Do not throw light sets randomly.
- Use surge protector
To prevent overload even further, we recommend you use your lights with a power surge protector.
