I am lucky to have been given so many opportunities to go on many, many trips and vacations. I consider myself to be a seasoned traveler. I think exploring our world is the best way to learn about different cultures, lifestyles and traditions.

During the winter season, it always feels great to escape blistering cold days, so people often choose vacation spots where the sun is working at its peak. I love going on cruises and visiting countries down south. However, have you ever thought of checking out areas where winter is completely glorified? There are many cities in North America where you can get a full-on winter experience – many include these epic, scenic winter landscapes (think mountains covered with crisp, white snow and a blue sky behind it).

Today, I put together a list of wonderful cities to visit during the winter season. If you’re looking for a new type of adventure, then look no further! I’ve got some winter wonderland suggestions for you!

Burlington, VT
Not only is Burlington a charming college town, but its downtown area is full of “mom and pop shops” that will surely get you into the holiday spirit. Surround yourself with gorgeous views of mountains and greenery – taking a trip to Vermont is totally worth it on winter days!

Montreal (Canada)
If you feel like visiting our neighbors up north, then make Montreal your ultimate winter destination! This bilingual city (you’ll feel like you’re in Paris with the amount of français that you’ll be hearing) is full of festivals and shows during the holiday season. You can even go through their beautiful Old Montreal area where roads are cobbled and specialty restaurants are on every street corner.

Park City, UT
East of Salt Lake City, Park City is best known for their ski slopes. You can enjoy accommodations at the wonderful resorts that surround the area like Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort. Historically, it is a mining town and on its main strip, you will find many buildings built during the 19th century. Definitely a sight to see!

Magog (Canada)
Another Canadian city worth checking out is Magog, located in the province of Quebec. Only two hours away from the city of Montreal (see above), Magog hosts many festivities and activities – especially during the winter season. You can go skating on its lakeside ice skating trail, go for a wagon ride at their Erabliere Chic Rustique cabin or enjoy at day at the spa at their highly-rated Spa Etoile-sur-le-Lac.

New York, NY
Are you more of a city-slicker? If you’re looking for the ultimate holiday-shopping experience, then New York City is the way to go! Between your shopping escapades, why not ice-skate a couple of laps at the Rockefeller Center. This will also give you a great view of their enormous Christmas tree! Central Park is also very beautiful to see with snow sprinkled on the trees and grass. New York City awaits you!

Have you visited any of these places? What are some of your favorite winter destinations? Tell me all about them in the comments below!

I was expecting to see cities in the South, such as Atlanta and Tampa. That'd be my preference! Warmer, not colder weather.
