Amazing Adventures of Dev, A Story of A Mother’s Love and Loss

Probably one of the strongest bonds in life is the love of a Mother and her child. I had the chance to read this incredible book of love and loss.

Book of Mother's love

Amazing Adventures With Dev

I picked up this book expecting it to be a sob fest for me. Yes I cried but I also laughed and cheered along with it.  The author Melody L. Boulton is a psychotherapist in Portland Maine.  She lost her precious son Devon on Good Friday, March 29, 2013. He was 23 years old. He died from a rare lung disease.  This book is more about how he lived. He was a fun loving, adventurous young man with a great spirit. He tells his own story in this book along with his Mother. The book is filled with pictures of Devon and his friends and his life here on Earth. He was loved by many and missed by many.

The book starts with the beginning. A little history of the authors life and then Devon’s early childhood. He was a great student, extremely active in sports.  He loved lacrosse, skiing, golfing, pond hockey, long boarding and more. He never met a stranger. He loved to travel all over the world and everyone he met loved him. Which is evident in that he had over 500 people at his memorial service. Devon helped his Mother write a biography, autobiography and memoir as well as a book of spirituality.  Devon had a strong relationship with his Mother. They sometimes said the same things and had the same thoughts. Devon was strong in that he helped his Mother plan every aspect of his departure form this world. He even picked his own headstone. So strong in fact that his Mother still feels his presence with her daily. His spirit guides her through her own serious illness and he has strength in knowing he is with her always.
