As a parent with an adult child, I’m always on the look out for useful home gifts. My eldest is twenty one and he shares an apartment with his girlfriend. Here are two of the gifts that will be under the tree for them this year.
Useful Holiday Gifts for the Home
It seems like just yesterday I was buying this boy toy cars and Pokemon cards. Now here I am buying him stuff for his own place. They sure grow up fast!
No one wants a gross microwave
As a mom, my pet peeve is when my family reheats food and don’t bother to cover it. I hate cleaning the microwave, especially when there’s burnt food in there. My solution was to get some of these plastic microwave plate lid covers. They’re so handy! They help your food heat more evenly and even better yet, they keep it from splattering all over the inside of your microwave. There’s even a handy vent too! Now that my son has his own place, he realizes that cleaning isn’t fun. So to help him and sweet girlfriend, I grabbed them some of these lid covers for Christmas. You can get some here too.
Keep it cozy
My son and his girlfriend live in a duplex home. It’s lovely, but it’s quite old and therefore pretty drafty. To keep them warmer, and help lower their heating bill, my husband and I got them some door draft stoppers.
I chose these ones from Monika’s Marketplace. They are really nice looking, and as matter of fact, they match the kid’s carpet. They can use them to keep their warm air in during the winter. In the summer they can use them to keep out the heat, while keeping their air conditioning in the house.
When they’re not using them they can hang them up next to the door, since these have a hanging cord attached to them. They also come with a handy storage bag too. These door draft stoppers fit standard doors as well. The middle and both ends have small bags with rocks to weigh the door draft stopper down and help keep it in place. The rest of it is stuffing to keep the air and drafts out.
