1. Defrost sparingly. Just like you should not run your air conditioner non-stop in the summer, the defroster too should be turned on only when you cannot see. While the air conditioner on high setting at low speeds can reduce the fuel efficiency by 10% ,the defroster ends eating up to 25 percent of your fuel right as you put it on!

2. Keep an eye on your tires. With under inflated tires, the engine is trying to force through. This is not only dangerous and makes you accident prone but also wastes your fuel. So every month, get your tires checked and everyday run a quick eye over them when stepping out.

3. Don’t idle too much. In winter, we often decide to let the engine run idly to warm up the car. Irrespective of the temperature outside, experts note that 30 seconds is enough time for the engine to warm up. Idling more than that is wasting fuel. Also, do avoid over revving the car.
