5 Things To Do Before Traveling In A Motorhome

Plan your route

It is important to plan where you would like to go before traveling, to prevent you from aimlessly driving around and wasting time and not to mention fuel!

Once you have a destination in mind, plan the route that you are going to take to get there.

It is a good idea to also plan rest breaks if you are going on a long journey, as this is a great time to use the bathroom or swap drivers to prevent tiredness!

In case of any accidents or road closures, make sure you have an alternative route just in case, to minimize the chance of you getting lost and caught out!

Remember to have all your paperwork

Make sure that prior to setting off you have a copy of all the paperwork you may need.

This should include a driver’s license, passports for all passengers, and a copy of your motorhome insurance documents.

It is wise to take a picture of all these documents in case you miss place them.

Check your motorhome

Before getting out onto the road, make sure that your motorhome is in full working order and fuelled up – ready to go for the journey!

Check all tires and make sure they are free from punctures and full of air, as deflated tires can mean that you will use more petrol, increasing the cost of your trip.

Not to mention the safety issues that this can cause.

Make sure that you take frequent breaks to get out and stretch your legs, as tiredness can kill.

It can often be beneficial depending on how much distance you want to drive per day, to add two drivers to your insurance so someone else can take over if the driver becomes tired or feels unwell.

Do not sit in the back of the motorhome when traveling, always sit in a designated seat with a seatbelt on.

Try to listen to upbeat music or a podcast to keep you entertained, but never do this through headphones as it is important to hear other vehicles around you, to prevent accidents.
