As the only room in the house with a lock on it, the bathroom is something of a sanctuary for many homeowners.
But it’s also the room that is often neglected when it comes to renovation as it’s not a room we tend to spend much time in unless we really enjoy long baths.
Every once in a while, your bathroom deserves a little love, and you don’t need to completely tear it to pieces to make all the difference.
Indeed, there are several quick tricks you can use to make your bathroom feel brand new that we’ll be exploring below.

Declutter
Surely you don’t need all those facial products and why are there dozens of empty toilet rolls sitting idly on the windowsill?
And do you really need THAT much bathroom reading material?
Many bathrooms (particularly downstairs bathrooms, it must be said) tend to collect clutter and remain that way indefinitely until something is done about it.
The first and easiest thing you can do to improve your bathroom is to get rid of all that unnecessary garbage.
A breath of fresh air
It should come as little surprise that most bathrooms don’t naturally smell amazing given what they’re used for.
But that just means you need to work a little harder to make the room smell fresh even during the most turbulent of times (after a curry, for example).
Bringing in a few scented candles, a glade plugin and some strong-smelling soaps and sprays can completely change the atmosphere of your bathroom.
And you can even swap out the scents depending on the season. Cinnamon at Christmas, for example, is always going to be a winner.
Pimp your shower
The shower is something we use every day so it should always be a consideration when it comes to bathroom improvements.
Even if the shower head is perfectly acceptable, you might want to invest in new shower enclosures if your doors are looking a little rusty and falling off their hinges.
Or maybe you fancy a rainfall shower so you can feel like you’re staying in a fancy hotel?
Clean that grout
The grout surrounding your tiles can be like a magnet for filth and grime, and while it can look quite daunting, it’s not half as difficult to remove as you might assume.
There are dozens of off-the-shelf cleaning solutions that will do the trick that are simple to use and won’t cost a fortune.
Just remember to take your time with it and open a window as the fumes these chemicals generate can be quite powerful.
Let the light In
Finally, consider bringing both natural and extra artificial light into the bathroom by installing bright and more energy-efficient LED bulbs and considering a bathroom skylight.
The latter might seem like a bit of a gamble but trust us, taking a bath in natural sunlight is an experience you don’t want to miss!
