Many employees work extremely hard yet don’t receive much in the way of gratitude. That is a huge mistake.
Not recognizing an employee’s hard work means at some point they will start to feel unappreciated.
Eventually, they might decide to leave their job and move to a company that does appreciate them. Since loyal and hard-working employees are your biggest asset, it pays to reward them from time to time.
Here’s how you can do that.

Say Thank You
Saying “thank you” for a job well done is simple and free, but not all managers and bosses understand the value of those two deceptively simple words.
All too often, employees take their staff for granted. Don’t be that person. If an employee is diligent enough to work overtime and go the extra mile, tell them how much you appreciate their efforts, either in person or with a handwritten note.
Even better, say thank you publicly, so other people recognize their achievement.
Give Them a Pay Rise
Offering financial rewards is a common practice, especially in larger organizations. Not all employees are motivated by money, but a pay rise or bonus will probably be much appreciated.
It tells an employee that they are a valuable asset, and you don’t want them to leave.
This one is especially important if your staff are currently on a below-market wage, whether because it is a startup or because you haven’t adjusted their pay to account for inflation for some time.
Throw a Company Party
Organizing an all-expenses-paid party for employees is a great way to reward the whole company for their performance.
It shows everyone how much you, their employer, appreciate all the hard work these people do. After all, without them, your company wouldn’t be successful.
Throw a party and invite the families of your employees. People will be a lot more inclined to attend the party if they can bring their other halves and the kids. Provide food, drink, and entertainment.
Clowns, carnival slides, face painting, and a disco are all fun ideas for a summer party.
Personalized Gifts
One-off personalized gifts are useful if you want to reward employees for completing a project ahead of schedule or perhaps modern award trophies to celebrate their long tenure at the company.
Choose gifts that you know they will enjoy, such as a hamper containing chocolate and wine, or a selection of luxe beauty products.
This is where getting to know your staff beyond a superficial level pays dividends, as you’ll know what they like and what they don’t like.
Offer Extra Time Off
Most people are happy to be given an extra day off. And after a long, stressful period at work, some additional time off is actually good for them.
Don’t overlook the benefit of giving an employee an extra paid day off if they have been working exceptionally hard lately. It could help prevent burnout.
Other ideas worth considering include allowing flexible working and offering them more opportunities for professional development.
