Most of us still remember the fear and shock while watching the news after the first plane flew into the Empire State Building on September 11, 2001. We were even more shocked when the second plane hit.

The towers may have fallen, but our spirit and unity stood tall. We learned that there’s a lot more than where we live that connects us as Americans. People of all races and beliefs came together to show the world that we can come together in the face of a tragedy.

The 9/11 memorial consists of two pools in the same place of the fallen towers. The memorial is free to the public, but the museum costs $26 for admission. Learn about the people who perished as a result of the tragedy and the amazing men and women who helped rummage through the ruins to save lives.

Never forget.
