The living room is one of the most used in the house so you want it to look good. Everyone gathers there and will spend a lot of time there. It may double up as a TV room, a dining room or a playroom. Whatever you use it for, it might be in need of a little update. Here are a few things that you can do to update your living room. These things don’t need to cost a lot but they can make such a difference to the look and feel of the room.

Create a Photo Wall

If you have got a large space on a wall, it will look amazing filled with photos. A photo wall is a lovely option to share your memories and you can update them as time goes on. What you need to do is a get several photo frames. It works best if they are of different styles and sizes but all have a similar theme, for example, colour. Before you nail anything to the wall, lay the frames out on the floor and choose the layout that will look best on the wall. Frames and getting photographs printed can be inexpensive. A photo wall will look so good and make the room look so different. It creates a talking point for visiting guests too.

Accessories

Nothing adds an update like a pop of colour from accessories. A few new cushions or throws can make the world of difference. Think about vases and flowers too. Adding these little features update the room. You could get a new coffee table or accessories for the coffee table like candle holders or trinkets. Think about storage too. If you can hide away the kids toys, or books and magazines, then it can make a room look so different. None of these things needs to cost a lot of money, though.

How a room is lit adds a whole new dimension to the room. Think about how well lit the room currently is. Could you get a bigger, more open light shade or fitting? You could also get a floor lamp or a desk lamp, depending on what furniture you already have in the room. The cheapest option of all could be getting a dimmer light switch. They are cheap and quick and easy to install. It is a great option of your room does double up as a home cinema, as you have instant mood lighting and can set it as bright or as dim as you would like.
