How to Redesign Your Bedroom on a Low Budget

There are a lot of things that you want to change about your house, but you have been putting them off because the changes just don’t fit into your budget. It can be very frustrating to say the least, however there are some redesign options that might not be as expensive as you would imagine. If you are considering redesigning your bedroom, keep reading as we’re going to give you seven tips that will help you to redesign your bedroom on a budget.

Imagine Source

Attach the Headboard to the Wall

Remove the old headboard from the bed, refinish it, and then add inexpensive upholstery to cover the center of it. After that, hang it on the wall over the bed and it will give your bedroom a look that is elegant yet adds to the ambience of the room. You see this done all the time in hotels these days because it saves them money without making the room look cheap. It is a very inexpensive project that you can easily handle yourself.

Make Curtains, Bed Skins and Ruffles Yourself

You do not have to be an amazing seamstress to be able to sew together some nice accents for your bedroom without spending a fortune. You can look on the internet for ideas on how to sew together such things as curtains, bed skins and ruffles that will definitely change the look of any room. You can even make these things out of old sheets, blankets and other cloth items which are just taking up space in the closet too. Once added to the bed and the windows they will add a classy new look to any bedroom.

Clean the Room

There is no cheaper way to give your bedroom a makeover than by cleaning up all the clutter; it can make it look as good as any redesign that you spent good money on. Many people lose sight over time of just how good their bedroom looked before personal items began to accumulate everywhere. Once you get everything picked up off the floor and have decluttered the end tables and dressers, your bedroom will look like you have spent hundreds of dollars on a redesign. If you add a few new, inexpensive accents here and there it will feel like a whole different bedroom.

New Mattress

If you are in dire need of a new mattress it can impact your life negatively in a lot of different ways. Maybe you are constantly tired from not getting a good night’s sleep or you constantly wake up with a sore back. If either of these ring true, you need to make a change whether it fits within your budget or not. If you look around online and in local stores, you can usually find ways to find an inexpensive regular bed or cheaper options for Sleep Number beds.

Add Pillows

What makes the beds at hotels appear plush and comfortable as you walk in the room? The answer is the effect that the many pillows they put on the bed to welcome you has. Your brain connects the abundance of pillows and their colors with the feeling of comfort and there is no reason you cannot take advantage of this very same effect in your own bedroom. If you don’t believe this one, then ask any professional interior decorator about the importance of pillows when decorating the living areas and the bedrooms of a home.

Remove a Piece or Two of Furniture

Just like it’s essential to remove all the clutter from a bedroom, it may also be a case where the furniture is making the room look cluttered as well. You can do such things as remove one end table or a standing light to make a room look more wide and open. If you look at designer pictures of bedrooms you will see the floor space is usually decorated simply and left clear.

Change the Lighting

There is a reason why big name Hollywood movie producers adjust the lighting on their shots and that is to create different moods and different perceptions of almost identical scenes. There is no reason why you can’t apply this same thinking to your bedroom as a part of a simple and inexpensive redesign. Both adding more light and providing less light will give your bedroom a whole different look. You can also add different types of lighting such as wall lighting or ceiling lighting to help create this new look; these lights can be purchased pretty inexpensively in most cases too.

So as you can see, there are a lot of low cost and no cost options for redesigning your bedroom. You don’t have to put off that redesign any longer because of budget concerns.
