How To Get Ready For Your School Prom?

How To Get Ready For Your School Prom?

Everyone is always eager to start thinking about their prom as soon as it hits prom season. And we don’t blame you. With so many things to think about, from the dress to the accessories, make-up, and hair, you need to be organized in your prom prep. As the event gets closer, salon appointment slots start getting booked up, and dress shops may start getting less new stock. We believe it is never too early to start preparing for your prom.

Kyle Richards, star of the reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, says “Going to prom is like going on a trip. Teens want to be in shape, they want their skin to look the best, they want the best dress and shoes,” she points out.

Pick Out a Dress

Your dress is the focal point of your night, so it is no wonder you want to perfect one. Spend time looking around at different styles, get inspiration from fashion websites and magazines, and try on prom dresses until you find the perfect one. For prom dresses 2019, we just love white. White prom dresses stand out, which are elegant and eye-catching. Plus, you can easily pair white with so many colors for your shoes and accessories.

Hair and Makeup

Book your hair and makeup appointment. Everyone will aim to get them done in advance, so to make sure you get the slot you want, its best to book way in advance.

Once your appointment is booked, start researching the kind of hairstyle you may like, and the makeup look you would like to go for. In terms of hairstyles, there are so many to choose from – up, down, half-up, braided…, and the style you pick should match the dress you choose.

Find Jewelry & Accessories

Once you have your prom dress in the bag, it is time to search for details that make your outfit complete. Choose accessories that compliment your dress rather than overpower it. Your dress is the centerpiece, the accessories should add additional glamor or simplicity to it depending on the look you want to go for, but not detract from the dress.

Prom Day

Today you will have your hair and make-up appointments. JJ’s House designer Jessica recommends ‘having your hair done around 6 hours before prom starts to ensure you have time for tweaks and changes if necessary, then plenty of time to get your make up done, get home, dressed, and feel relaxed on route to your prom location’.

After Prom

There will be a lot going on after your prom event ends, we advise planning what you would like to do before the event, so you can ensure it all goes swimmingly. There most likely will be a themed school function, or you may organize something between you and a few friends, a relaxed get-together somewhere for example. The school will typically choose a different theme to your main prom event and should host lots of games and activities. If you would prefer organizing something with your small friendship group, how about bowling, or a bonfire, or even camping in the outdoors. Prefer lower key? Why not head over to a friend’s house to watch movies and gossip about the night. Deciding which one you would like to do means you know what to take and can just enjoy the moment.

All That’s Left Is to Have Fun

Now you have everything prepared, it’s time for the most important part. To have fun! It is the day you have been planning for months, so dance the night away, make great memories, and enjoy every second. You will be talking about this day for years to come.
