Swaddling dates back to the oldest days of history. It is proven to be helpful in calming your baby. However, holding your baby on your forearm, face-down ( or face-forward ) while rocking or bouncing them ( very gently ) also helps to enhance the calming effect. And believe it or not using a pacifier and making a loud shushing sound in their ear also helps. The shushing sound resembles when they were floating around in our bellies. If your baby tends to be on the hot natured side, like my grandsons, dress them in a diaper and the Miracle Blanket only.
As your little bundle of joy grows, the blanket may fit loose around their legs. That’s okay and it will allow for proper movement and development of their hip and knee joints. Swaddling your baby needs to be done correctly. The recommended swaddling time is from birth to 14 weeks. It is not recommended for use after 14 weeks of age. Babies need their hands free to suck their fingers and toes. And to explore the world around them.
When wrapping your baby make sure to wrap them snugly. It’s normal if they fuss when first wrapped. But never fear, after a week or so, just the sight of their blanket will relax them. Make sure that the blanket doesn’t touch your baby’s cheeks. Sometimes this will trigger their “rooting response” and may wake them up. Make sure that the blanket is slightly below the tops of their shoulders. It is very important to tuck the arm flaps securely and flat under your baby’s back. The flaps keep your baby from working their arms free and waking up. If your baby doesn’t like their feet tucked in. All you have to do, is in step two, position their feet on top of the foot pouch. My grandson loved his and I know your little one will too.
They have won so many awards for this blanket: NAPPA, 2016 Baby Maternity Magazine Awards, Preferred Choice Baby Wraps Category, Babylist Best Pick: Most Secure Swaddle, Good Housekeeping Institute Thumps Up Award, 2005 Iparenting Media Award.
