If you are a seasoned traveler, you think nothing of packing your suitcase with the confidence that you will leave nothing behind or take anything that you do not need. Many people find packing to be a source of anxiety, and spend most of the time second-guessing their decisions. I used to be that way. The process would begin weeks in advance, and I constantly worried. Eventually, I found out how to do it correctly. Here are my top tips on things to remember when packing for a holiday in the sun.

Relax

The first rule is that you cannot perform your task well when you are uptight and stressed. I always reach for a glass of wine before I open the suitcase. Whether it is the alcohol or the state of relaxation it induces that makes the job easy, is a matter of debate. Suffice to say that it works.

Clothes

Consider the climate in the country that you intend to visit. This article is about a hot place, so find all of your summer gear out and lay it on the bed. You will probably need plenty of shorts and t-shirts there according to the  Sriwijaya air promo, but don’t forget that the evenings might get chilly. Pack a few warm clothes too. You will probably need extra underwear in a hot country because you sweat lots, and it is not good to waste time washing clothes.

Toiletries

Pharmacies and supermarkets are wise to the needs of the weary traveler and now sell your favorite products in travel-size bottles. Remember that they must go into the luggage you stow because there are restrictions on what you can carry onto the plane. Even if you think it is fine, it is best not to take the risk because security will not hesitate to relieve you of the product if it breaks the rules.

Medicines

Stowe your medicines in your main luggage too. There are allowances for diabetics, for example, who can take any medicine they need during the flight into the cabin, but they must register it. Pack your drugs a few days before you go and use them out of the case. That way you are sure that you have omitted nothing.

Paperwork

Carry your passport, insurance documents, and hotel booking in your hand luggage. It is best to use a lockable bag so that you will lose nothing as you travel. We are all confident in our abilities, but accidents happen; such is life.

Jewelry

Jewelry is probably the thing people forget most. Think about your holiday. Will there be any formal functions, or is it a relaxing beach vacation? These things can influence your choice of accessories.

Contacts

You must carry the telephone number of contacts at home in case there is an emergency while you are abroad. Write them down and keep them in your pocket. They are in your mobile phone, but people might not be able to access the numbers if you are unconscious from illness or accident. It is not a pleasant subject to ponder, but a necessary one.

I think we have covered all of the essentials now. If you have followed my advice correctly, the wine bottle should be empty. Perhaps we should run through it one more time; what do you think? Hic!
