I have four kids and one of the main problems I have in this house is keeping the mattresses clean. I have three boys who are all potty trained, but they still have accidents from time to time. My thing is that once they have an accident on the mattress, it can be so hard to clean the mattress. Here is how I plan on keeping our mattresses clean.
#1. Use baking soda
I have noticed that the mattresses in my house stay fresher and smell better if we sprinkle baking soda on it. Baking soda helps to absorb the odor. I have noticed our house smells a lot better by using baking soda.
#2. Put fresh sheets on the bed
I know it can be hard to remember to put fresh sheets on the bed. Fresh sheets can keep a mattress clean and fresh. At least wash the bedding once a week to help keep the mattress fresh and clean.
#3. No food or drinks allowed around the mattress
When it comes down to it, people like to eat and drink around their beds. I have a no food or drink policy around the mattresses in my house. You’d be surprised at how well this helps us keep our mattresses clean.
#4. Use a PeaponMats
I am in love with PeapodMats! My three year old needed to make the transition from pullups to just a plain mattress. I didn’t want him to pee on the bed, so the mat has come in handy. He has only peed once on the mat and since then it has been totally dry. It’s nice not having to clean a mattress if he does have an accident.
The big difference? PeapodMats lie flat ON TOP of sheets with a grippy material underneath that allows the mat to remain stationary and in-place WITHOUT flaps, straps or Velcro. This means there is no need to tuck or wrap the mat around the mattress or mattress corners. With the design of the PeapodMat, not only does it remain stationary, but will stay flat without bunching or gathering. This provides a comfortable and protected sleep throughout the night.
