Selecting the car
First of all, think about which car you need. If you are carrying lots of gear, or if you are traveling with family or children, then you may need an SUV or big sedan. But if 4 or 5 seats are enough for you, then go for a smaller model that will ask for less gas and rent. Are you comfortable with manual transmission, or you want an automatic one? Also look for extras the rental company might be offering, such as a car seat, GPS system, ski rack etc.
Inspecting the vehicle
The car you want to should be in good physical and mechanical condition. You may visit the site of the car rental company, and inspect the vehicle yourself. Make sure that all switches and lights are working, and it should turn on quickly. Go around the vehicle, and notify the person about any scratches, dents or damages on the car’s body. If you do not do that, they may claim that you made this dent at the time of returning the car.
