What the heck is SELF- CARE and do I need to do this?
I’m a mom and when can I find the time to a moment to myself. My bathroom visits are still being interrupted and guess what…I have teenagers. I have very little time to even think about myself. Well, I’m not alone and not the only one making excuses. However, we need to STOP and think about ourselves.
To be honest, when I think about doing something for myself I feel GUILTY! There are 1001 things I need to do, and no one else is going to do them but me, so when do I have time? Excuses! I’m getting older, and my thinking is this is the time of my life that it is ALL ABOUT MY FAMILY. Well someone needs to hit me upside the head and tell me it’s okay not to be the perfect mom and wife. Which by the way, I’m not, but I am a drowning MOM and WIFE.
Taking on the world and the problems is not my job, but in my world, I feel I’m the only one who cares the house is dirty, or the laundry is piling up! So I surrender and will indulge in more self-care. I have the perfect book by Julie Burton- The Self Care Solution to help me through this process. It is a MORDEN Mother’s Must Have Guide to Health and Wellness! She writes this for ALL THE MOMS out there struggling with life balance.
The book goes through how to take care of yourself, relationships, and jobs all while being a MOM. There is no manual on how to be a mom, so we are just winging it, and I take my job very serious, maybe way too serious sometimes. My 15 yr old doesn’t need his steak cut up, right? So taking the time to read this book was even hard. But I’ve been trying and loving everything in it! Looking on how I can improve the way I do things plus taking the time out for ME!
I started my journal because I need to embrace some changes and being grateful for what I do have is crucial.
Letting go of MOM mode is the hardest, and so I’m working on that for my relationships. I love to see what other moms are doing in their lives so reading their testimonies helps me a lot! I’m a work in progress and will continue to my journey!
