Have you ever wondered what your fur baby does while you’re away? In this new children’s book, Cutie Meets Mr. Lizard, you’ll see what Cutie does while mom is at school.
While Parents are Away, Our Pets will Play
Meet Cutie! The adorable rescue chihuahua that lives in a house in the desert with her adoptive family. This sweet, lovable and curious little dog thinks she’s big. (Much like our small dog Josie who thinks she’s larger than our German Shepherd!)
Cutie’s mama is Ava Rose. She’s six years old, and has to leave Cutie to go to school everyday. She and Cutie are both sad because they would rather spend the day playing together. Everyday when her mama leaves for school, Cutie goes to her bowls and eats her breakfast. But today she doesn’t want to eat boring puppy food. She wants something different.
The Adventure Begins
Cutie decides it’s time for a big adventure, and it will take place OUTSIDE! She goes to Ava’s room to find the window open. And she’s off! She climbs down the tree, and heads into the yard. Cutie is off! Running and rolling into the sand. She knows she needs to be home before Ava, but she is enjoying the fun.
Through Cutie’s play she meet a Mr. Lizard. He’s afraid of Cutie! But once he gets to know her, he is no longer afraid. Mr. Lizard introduces Cutie to his whole family, and invites her to lunch. She learns that everyone eats different things. Sometimes strange things.
Cutie Meets Mr. Lizard is the first book in the series Cutie’s Big Adventures by Felicia Di John. Cutie is precious, and following her journey in this book was fun. The underlying story of gratitude was a nice message for youngsters.
The illustrations by Terence Gaylor are so bright and colorful. They make the book so entertaining. My son really enjoyed this book, as did I while he read to me. We happen to be huge dog lovers, and he happens to love lizards, so it was perfect for us!
