New Car Checklist Before Purchasing a New Car

If you’ve recently gone to a car dealership or met the person who is selling you a new car there’s no doubt you’re excited. It’s a fun time knowing that you’ve found the car of your dreams and you can afford it. However, before driving away with your new car there are some things you should know first. A few things that are important include trusting the person who is selling you the car, doing your research ahead of time on the best price for your car, and not leaving without a warranty. Have a checklist in the back of your mind and make sure you have your bases covered. That way when you drive away with your shiny new car there will be no surprises!

Know the Trade-Offs You’re Willing to Live With

You should know what trade-offs you might be willing to make before purchasing your new car. What special features do you absolutely want and what features can you live without? Make a list of the colors that you love the most in the order of what your favorites are to your least favorites. Do the same for other special features.

Have Plenty of Photocopies

Photocopies are important when you arrive at a dealership to buy a car. Having your driver’s license and proof of insurance is important, but you’ll also need a lot of paper copies as well just in case they need them. Be prepared and the process will go a lot more smoothly.

Do Your Research

Even though you’ve decided on the car you’d like to purchase at a dealership or through an individual seller, do a final check of the price. A great price may come up last minute that you can’t pass up. It’s also important to call and double check before picking up your vehicle to see if the car and make that you want is still there. Many times cars can sell quickly and it’s a good idea to call ahead before you make the trip to the dealership.

You’re in Charge

Consider the car salesman as someone you are hiring. If the person doesn’t seem to care or isn’t willing to work with you on including certain features, etc. don’t work with them. There are other sales people and dealerships you can consider that might be easier to work with if your existing dealership is being difficult. They will make sure you get the car you want as well.
