Maruti Beads, a company in India that sells handcrafted wholesale beads, recently contacted me with the opportunity to receive their 50-piece mix of Maruti, Kashmiri and Lac beads in exchange for my review. The beads arrived well packaged and individually wrapped in a reusable plastic case. They are the most beautiful beads I have ever seen.
Maruti Beads –
The perfect fusion of Kashmiri beads and seductive silver, Maruti Beads artistically blends the beauty of Kashmiri beads with silver plated side caps to culminate in a one of a kind creation exclusive to Maruti International.
Each inspiring piece is designed and hand crafted by masters of this ancient art: passed down through generations from time immemorial.
Due to their extraordinary design, Maruti beads are demanding to manufacture and involve a time-consuming production process.
Kashmiri Beads –
Although Kashmiri beads & Lac beads are similar in appearance but they are very different when it comes to composition. Kashmiri beads are made from a mix of marble powder and manufactured resin while the resin used in Lac beads is from a natural source.
Also known as, “Bollywood” beads, Kashmiri beads are hand decorated and use a variety of materials for embellishment such as mirror chips, seed beads, silver plating and rhinestones.
What this all adds up to…an attention-grabbing work of art as unique and original as the people who fall in love with them.
Lac Beads –
Lac beads are made from a mixture of Lac and marble powder, ornamented with silver plating, seed beads and rhinestones: detailed with metal elements, mirror chips and various embellishments…In short, Lac beads are highly valued individual works of art.
What you may know about Lac beads is that Lac beads (sometimes-misspelled Lakh) are a time-honored Indian bead, handmade in a traditional manner passed down through generations by expert artisans.
What you may not know about Lac Beads is that Lac is a substance secreted by a tiny insect called Kerria lacca. The Lac insect is so small that a magnifying glass is needed to see it. This little bug dwells in the twigs of host trees and lives off the sap from which they secrete the hard Lac resin. When first harvested Lac resin is brittle and tough however, through a process of slow heating the resin softens into a workable material.
Maurti Beads is an independently owned bead company, located in India. They take the time to craft each bead by hand “inspired by a proud heritage of India.” What I love about this company is they make all of the beads themselves, so there is no middle man raising the prices unnecessarily.
They are so unique and look even better when you’re holding them in your hand. Simply put, Maurti Beads are easily the most beautiful beads I have ever worked with. The quality is unmatched anywhere.

These are beautiful!
These are so pretty. A perfect Mother’s Day Gift
Wow, those beads are gorgeous! You said they are hand-crafted…I’m just curious as to how long it takes to make one…so detailed with so many different aspects, patterns, and items fixed on the bead…it looks like it would take a long time, and your pack of 50 sounds like a whole week’s worth of work!
Those are some very pretty beads. I would love to see them on jewelry.
Wow those really are cool. I’m always looking for beads to add to my collection so I’ll be taking a look at their company and see if they have a distributor here in the US.
I LOVE the maruti beads – so beautiful and so intricate for such a small item! What are the dimensions of the beads and where can they be found for sale?
Shelley
Hi Shelly, The Maruti beads can be found here http://www.marutibeads.com/ They have different dimensions, it depends on what you pick, lets say you choose a round bead, it is 16 mm the hole size is 2 – 3 mm and weights 5 gm.
Very pretty!
These are really pretty! I love handmade items! How did you use your beads? Necklace or bracelet? I would love to make a necklace out of these beads. I would probably use a leather type necklace which would really bring out the details in the beads!
I made a bracelet for my daughter..
