What to Look for in Hair Products

Natural ingredients work far better in hair products than harsh chemicals that can strip away the natural oil that our hair needs for hydration. The chemicals that are found in gels, shampoos and hair masks may even be doing an adverse effect on what we want from the product. Natural ingredients aren’t only for texture but to improve the look and feel of our hair altogether. As you are shopping for products, make sure to go with all natural ingredients.

Hydration: Shea Butter

Shea butter is a great product component because it provides dry strands with moisture and hydration. It helps to seal in nutrients and keep your hair smooth because of the fatty acid components.

Strength: Coconut Oil

Luckily, there are tons of natural hair products that contain coconut oil as a main ingredient. This oil seals in moisture and it also adds strength and shine to your locks which makes it one of the more popular ingredients. It can be used as a leave-in condition or hair mask depending on what hair texture you have.

Growth: Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is most beneficial in preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. It helps people who suffer from scalp problems as well. The best way to use this is as a shampoo or conditioner. Aloe Vera can be applied to the scalp directly as well. You should be able to see an improvement in the health of your scalp after the first or second use.

Moisture: Vegetable Glycerin

If you come across any hair products that contain vegetable glycerin as an ingredient they are power because of the strong humectants qualities – this means that they attract and bind water. Humectants build a layer over the strands of your hair aiding in moisture retention.

Hair Repair: Jojoba

Jojoba Extract is also a humectants product that will repair your damaged ends. This ingredient is very similar to our natural hair oil and it’s very balanced as it isn’t overly greasy.

Cleanliness: Castor Seed Oil

Castor oil is a humectants product that possesses anti-fungal properties. The product ensures that your scalp will remain clean and also clear out the hair follicles so that they grow quickly. If you apply this to your temples repeatedly it will help to keep your hair thick and strong.

Nutrients: Avocado

Avocado or Avocado Oil is packed with vitamins and contains a high amount of potassium (more potassium than bananas.) Using the oil is the best way to keep nutrients into your hair. It will also help it grow quickly. Avocado can even be used on your skin to as it has the same effect as it would on your hair.

Whether you find these natural ingredients in a product or make an at-home remedy, either will improve the strength, texture, length and shine of your hair. Use the applications repeatedly (1-2 times per week) and you’ll begin to see a significant difference in the health and luster of your hair.
