How To Save Money While Still Looking Fabulous

(Lauren Hammond)

If you are a budding fashionista, you will always want to look your best. Style doesn’t have to be expensive; there are loads of ways you can save money while still looking fabulous. If your finances are a little tight at the moment, that doesn’t mean that you need to give up on fashion altogether. We all know that spending a fortune on clothes doesn’t mean that you look your best. What matters is that you know how to dress well and where to get the best deals.

Check out your local thrift store

Thrift stores are ever so popular right now, which means that it is the perfect time to start shopping at them. If you love the whole retro look, you will find some great pieces at your local store. You will need a little time to dedicate to this experience. When you head down to a thrift store, you need to sift through all the clothes before you find the right piece for you. If you hit gold, you might find an excellent bargain.

Beg, borrow (but don’t steal)

If you want a new wardrobe, but can’t afford it, it is time to get creative. If you have sisters or friends that are the same size as you, you can start borrowing their clothes. You might think that sharing wardrobes is something teenagers do, but frankly they have the right idea. Why should you buy loads of new outfits, when you can all share your clothing?

Customize old pieces for a new look

If some of your items look a little outdated now, why not spruce them up yourself? If you have any arts and crafts experience, now is the time to use it. You might want to change the shape of a particular dress or sew some sequins onto an old shirt. Personalizing the pieces that you use will make them look unique and new. There are loads of fashion guides online that will help you upcycle old pieces of clothing.

Get coupons and discount codes

If you want to treat yourself to something new, you should look to see whether you can get a discount first. For example, if you want a new coat, you could search for Macys promo codes before you buy it. If you sift through the internet, you can find thousands of coupons and discount codes. That way, you can treat yourself without having to worry too much about the expense of it all. You can decide what you want to buy first, and then search online for codes.

Attend a clothes swapping session

Another new fad is clothes swapping. Since everybody’s finances are tight right now, this idea is perfect. People all over the country host clothes swapping nights, where people can bring their old clothes and swap them. Look for sessions in your area so that you can get your hands on some new (to you) pieces.

Shop during sale season

Of course, the easiest way to save money on your fashion items is to shop during sale season. Most stores host sales at different times throughout the year. You should look at individual store sites to see when their next sale is. If you get to the store early, you can find some of the best discounts before anyone else.

It is completely understandable if you don’t have a great deal of excess cash. These days, people have to be super careful when it comes to their finances. Don’t let your fashion sense suffer just because you are low on funds. Instead, make sure that you still look incredible every single day!
