Hilton Head Island: Sonesta Resort Family Getaway

I love Hilton Head Island, SC. We go down there at least two or three times a summer. I was able to stay at this wonderful Resort called Sonesta Resort and it is beautiful. The wonderful people at the Sonesta agreed to let me and my family stay there for two nights and three days. I didn't want to leave!

We stayed from Monday to Wednesday and it was a lovely time that we had.  They recently renovated the entire hotel and I loved the new decor. Very modern and bright! The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island is located at the end of a gated community called Shipyard Plantation. Beautiful surroundings, breathtaking scenery.

The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island is the place to vacation, it has everything we love about a great beach vacation: the beach, a fantastic pool, and an onsite spa. The resort itself sits just behind the sand dunes of the beach, maybe a two-minute walk from the pool area, surrounded by lush landscaping and palmetto trees. There also is a pond full of turtles happy to snag a bit of bread from you during the daily feeding time. And, along the paths from the resort to the beach, you’ll find several hammocks inviting you to rest for a while.

DSC01115DSC01117DSC01116DSC01107I had a little surprise waiting for me in my room.

We were so happy with our room, it was beautifully decorated and every room has a Keurig coffee machine, iHome, Internet-ready Smart TV, in-room movies & video games and so much more. The beds were so comfortable and plush. They also had mango shampoo, conditioner and body gel dispensers in the shower/bath. That is always a plus for when you forget to bring these must-haves on vacation. The one thing I loved and never have seen before was the and very high tech lighting under the bed that only turns on when you walk near it. This is really good for night time when you're trying to walk to the bathroom, it lights up so you don't trip over anything or hit the wall.

There are two pools here. One zero-entry “heated lagoon pool” and one “shade pool”. There is also a hot tub next to the shaded pool. For those who love relaxing by the pool, you’ll love the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island main pool. Featuring a beach entry at one end, it is large and sunny. There is a good selection of lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas surrounding the pool so you have no worries trying to find one. Also, they supply nice plush towels for you to use while at the pool.

When you aren’t out by the pool or on the beach, head to the onsite Arum Spa for a treatment. They offer you an array of intoxicating treatments enveloped in an ambiance that engages the senses, calms the mind and lifts the spirit. Their offerings include massage, body, facial, manicure and pedicure treatments. Whether you have an hour or a full day, it’s always the right amount of time to relax and rejuvenate at Arum Spa. I didn't get the chance to visit them but it is always wonderful to have a Spa right on the resort.

If your hungry and don't want to leave the resort then you need to head to Heyward’s. We ate breakfast there and it was really good, everything was fresh and clean, I loved the decor. Our last night at the resort, we were supposed to go down to have dinner at Heyward's but that did not happen, earlier in the day my GERD started up and I was in so much pain in my tummy. They great people at the resort had room service bring us our dinner and even sent me up a note with some Pepto-Bismol. They were so courteous and thoughtful, the night manager even called up to our room to make sure I was fine and asked me if I needed anything else.

We had a wonderful time at the Sonesta Resort and I highly recommend this resort for your next vacation to Hilton Head. There is so much to do and see at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island!
