If there’s one thing our family loves it is to play fun games together. And I love to give board games as gifts because they are always really well received by the kids in my family. The parents (of smaller children) usually groan because nobody loves trying to keep up with games with lots of pieces when little kids are involved. But, I have found that when you engage in playing the games with your children (versus letting them go at it alone and unsupervised) and oversee putting the game away when finished, it’s easier to keep up with the pieces.
We used to have an entire huge armoire in our kids’ game room filled to the brim with all kinds of games. However, we lost most of them when a tornado destroyed our home in 2012. Sad face! So, we are currently in the process of getting a few new games here and there. Right now, we are getting games for older kids because our youngest child is 13. But, once grandchildren start coming along one day, I am looking forward to buying all the little kids games again!
Roosterfin has some great games available. The two pictured here, Rooster Race and Lumpy Cubes, are great for the younger crowd.

Rooster Race™ is a fun simple card game that suits all ages, from kids, teens, college students, parents, and grandparents. If you can count to 15, you can play Rooster Race™. War was one of my very favorite games and I still love to play on occasion. So, I love that Roosterfin has developed a version that appeals to very young children. With the bright colors, cute rooster images, and the plastic corn cobs for those who really enjoy the tactile experience of being able to touch items – this game will quickly become a favorite for the whole family. For school age children, it will also introduce the concept of chance as you try to guess whether the next card will be higher or lower than the last card played.

If you find it and stack it first you win!

My 7-yr-old niece is getting this for Christmas from me this year. She will love the colorful cubes with all the funny faces. She craves spending time with me when I visit. Having two younger siblings (ages 1 and 3) makes it hard for my sister to spend quality time alone with her since her younger ones don’t like to sleep and are always getting into stuff requiring pretty near total supervision all the time. And since my own kids are older, I enjoy doing fun little girl stuff with her when I can. I cannot WAIT to see her open it. She is gonna flip out!
So, the younger crowd is covered. What about older kids, you say? No worries, I got you covered! Check these out…

Many kids these days have cell phones and love to take pictures. This fun game incorporates those little tech gadgets into game play to give them a whole new experience. Cell phones can seem like they suck your kids into a virtual world that excludes others around them, but with this game they can have a great (and entertaining) face-to-face interaction with friends and family. My kids range in age from 13-22, this game will be under the Christmas tree from Santa to the family this year and I cannot wait to play it with the entire family. It’s gonna be hilarious!
Description: Break out the sleeping bags and leave the lights on. It’s a SLEEPOVER PARTY and we’re staying up late! Spin the spinner and attempt to complete one of over 200 ACT IT, WORK IT, or PARTY Challenges. Be the Human Mirror and copy everything another player does! Take Part in the “Funny Sound Competition” and make the most ridiculous noise you can!! Try to lick your own elbow!!! Being silly and having fun is the name of the game at this Sleepover, so be prepared to sing, laugh, perform, and make a general fool of yourself! Don’t fall asleep early, or you’ll miss out on earning the most cards and staying up all night! Kids rule at the SLEEPOVER PARTY, but mom and dad can play too… if they behave!
Ages: 7 and Up / For 2-4 Players
Man, my younger sister & our friends would’ve loved this game when we were teens. We ran with the same crowd and often had joint sleepovers at our house. This would have been so much fun. I’m hoping my 13-year old daughter will invite some of her friends over once Christmas break from school starts and give it a whirl. We will probably try this out as a family game first, because we are all pretty silly and not afraid to make total fools of ourselves. It’s pretty much a prerequisite to being a member of our crew. When we sit down to play a game together, anything goes, and the sillier we can be the better.
So, there you have it. Four games your kids (and you!) will fall in love with this holiday season. My husband and I tested out each one (though I forgot to take pics -boo!) and we declare them all winners!
