As possibly one of the best-loved and well-known novels in existence, Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is the perfect theme to try for your child’s next party.

From the music played, to the food served and even what games you play, there are loads of Alice-based ideas which will be great for kids to enjoy. Check out the suggestions below to help you plan your own Alice party:
It’s all about making an effort with your look when you go to a party – especially a fancy dress party. With such a fun theme as ‘Alice in Wonderland’, you’ll be able to go all-out for your child’s outfit, regardless of which character they choose.
Classic ‘Alice in Wonderland’ fancy dress ideas include the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter or even Alice herself. The Cheshire Cat is another good one to pick or you could dress them as one of the playing card guards. Don’t forget Tweedledum and Tweedledee , of course, especially if you’ve two children to dress up.
There are plenty of ready-made costumes and accessories that you can buy either online or in stores. Alternatively, you could even get experimental and make your own costumes if you’re feeling creative.
The main accessory you will need for an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ party is, of course, a table so that you can have a Mad Hatter’s tea party! Make sure you cover it with a table cloth and place on it all different kinds of teapots, plus mismatched cups and saucers. You could also try hanging colorful paper lanterns or fairy lights above the table to brighten things up and make it even more fun and decorative.
Another idea to try is to decorate your door as the rabbit hole or looking glass – that would emphasis the theme. Additionally, make sure you get some red and white roses to decorate the room with – whether they’re real or fake.
Why not move the party outside and have your guests play lawn croquet – perhaps with hedgehog toys as the balls and attach colored socks to the end of mallets to represent flamingos.
How about making a huge chessboard out of cardboard and encouraging the children to try giant chess?. Other ideas include ‘pin the grin on the Cheshire Cat’, painting your own tea-cups or even just screening ‘Alice in Wonderland’ on the TV in the background.
Tracks to include on your ‘Alice’ play list include ‘White Rabbit’, by Jefferson Airplane, ‘I am the Walrus’ by the Beatles, ‘Through The Looking Glass’ from Symphony X and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Wynter Gordon. If that’s a bit mature, then find the Disney soundtrack.
You can’t have a party without giving your guests a little something to go home with. There are loads of websites where you can purchase little ‘Alice in Wonderland’-themed party favors. They don’t have to be expensive either; try things such as characters badges, stickers, key chains and coloring books. You could also send your guests home with home-made Alice-themed cupcakes or cookies.
