Carmex® is my go-to lip moisturizer in the winter time. It never fails if I let my lips get chapped from the dry, cold winter air I always end up with a cold sore. So, we always have several tubes of this magical elixir floating around the house (and my car) at all times. I especially like the cherry scented Carmex®, but it’s a little harder to find than the original one, it seems.
I don’t travel a lot by air, but apparently (for those who do) the stale, re-circulated air in airplane cabins can cause dry skin. Carmex® lip balms can be a great thing to keep stocked in your carry-on bag to combat dry, chapped lips.
Fun fact: Carmex® has been formulated using the same original formula since 1937! I had no idea this brand was that old!! I remember my mom always had the little Carmex® jar around our house growing up. You know the one, white glass jar with the yellow lid? And, yes, before you ask … I dropped and broke a few in my childhood. Not good. Mamma was NOT happy. :)
A word of advice, if you live in a warm climate and want to keep some Carmex® in your vehicle, make sure you get the tube on the left in the above pic. Carmex will melt in hot temps and if you get the tube on the right, you will have a mess. You have been warned!
Carmex® lip balms are formulated with the best lip moisturization and pain relief ingredients. Here are the details you need to know:
- Glides on smoothly to help soften and hydrate lips with cocoa butter and a touch of mineral oil
- Contains lanolin, which mimics the way your skin naturally retains moisture
- Provides cooling pain relief with camphor and menthol
This Cherry flavored version is recommended for daily use by the Skin Cancer Foundation as it contains SPF-15 (in addition to all of the good stuff listed above) and is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes per application. I also helps to prevent sunburn when applied regularly. Another reason I like this brand so much is that they never test their formulas on animals. Thank you, Carmex®, my furry friends love you for this!
Carmex® is available in many types of stores, including drug stores, dollar stores and other mass retailers. Here’s a list of retailers (as listed on the Carmex website) where this line of products is available. Also, check out the website’s Special Offers link to find coupons to use when you head out to purchase some for yourself.
