If you have a child aged about 1 ½ up to just about 4 this book is for you. If you have a child that is ready to potty train, you are probably too late and needed this book around the age of 2 ½ and need to start reading this now. I have a daughter who is 3 (almost 3 ½) and think I am too late for reading this book. My husband and I have had all kinds of issues with her going poop, if you will. We had no problems with our first child, and I realize everyone is different, but little did I know that they would be so different. However, do not feel as if you are left behind even if you are just starting out and your child is 3 or even older – there is always a way to get your child out of diapers – she just puts it in a perspective that everyone can understand and makes it a pretty easy read.
As a matter of fact, she has about 12 different questions she will answer at the end of the book that may be a good start before you read the entire book. If you are in the middle of potty training – this is a good book; if you are at your wits-end and do not know where else to go for potty training, this is a really good book and although I have not read a lot of other books, I have read other articles and suggestions and this is the book that I should have started with and left the others behind.
She goes into each phase and give good advice and the best advice I think is to start from the beginning and go without diapers or underwear and get ready for a long weekend or take some time off of work and for about 3 days or so or a long weekend and you should pretty well get it mastered.
I am not saying that there will be problems along the way, but if you start potty training at say about 2 years of age, take a weekend and spend it with your child at home – she will tell you the methods – and you can get the basics down very quickly. That’s not to say you will be done with diapers. I am saying that you will cut down on them very quickly and you more than likely will be using diapers for naps (maybe?) and just at night. This will not take long, especially if you have a good mattress cover that is waterproof.
I highly recommend this book for anyone thinking about potty training. If you think, I’ll just wait until they show signs or they are ready – it is probably too late. It is not impossible to potty train as they are older, but if you have a child over 3 ½ up to 4 – you just may face more challenges.
Good luck and please get this book as soon as you can to help with all different stages. You can do it – even if you think you can’t – it is possible and it worked for me!
