I’m getting older, and I always wonder, “What if something happens to me? What will my family do?” Now, you would think I’m wondering about how they will react, but no, I’m worried about them financially. We don’t have a lot in savings, and we barely can get by now, so what if something did happen?!
What is supplemental insurance, and how can it help my family and me?
I don’t like to think like that all, but we need to – we need to prepare. Expect the best and prepare for the worst. I need to look into supplemental insurance like Aflac because it can help protect me with expenses that aren’t covered by our primary major medical insurance. Like a cushion to assist in the fall.
Aflac is not major medical health insurance; it is supplemental insurance that can assist with out-of-pocket expenses. Aflac pays you cash when you are sick so you can focus on your recovery rather than your bank account. I know I’m not prepared to pay for costly expenses. I went to the doctor a couple of months ago to have a test done the doctor ordered, and when they asked for my deductible, I was only prepared to give them my usual co-payment cost. The front desk lady looked at me weird when I handed her my $20. She proceeded to inform me that I would need $500. Huh? “No thanks,” I told her and walked right out. Now, what if I needed that test? That was an eye-opener for sure!
Aflac offers supplemental insurance policies, including:
Major medical insurances pay the doctors and hospitals, Aflac pays ME! So I can decide where the money goes and when. I may get sick, but the bills still need to be paid, right? These are all questions I think about and you should too! Do you have that CUSHION to help if an unexpected illness or accident occurs? I know I don’t!
What Supplemental Insurance would I get:
After weighing in my age and my family history, I think I would get a supplemental Cancer insurance policy. Seeing a couple of friends already go through financial hurricanes with their cancer treatments, I want to be prepared. Cancer out-of-pocket expenses are EXPENSIVE. Cancer can hit at any age, so is important to have help just in case.
When Should I get Supplemental Insurance?
Right now I have my family to worry about. I’m not in my twenties and only have to worry about myself or close to retiring with no kids at home. At this moment I have a family I need to look out for, my kids are in school and my husband works full-time. We have a lot to lose right now. I need to protect my family.
My family is so important to me and to put them through a serious illness and financial issues is just not going to happen. I can do something about it now, so we don’t have to worry later. Who wants to stress over money when going through a health issue? I would rather be safe than sorry, so I am going to prepare now.
So now what? How can I learn more about Aflac Supplemental Insurance?:
- Ask your employer’s Human Resources department what Aflac supplemental insurance policies are available to you;
- Then check Aflac’s Benefits Estimator to calculate the amount Aflac can provide to help with out-of-pocket costs not covered by your major medical insurance.
You want that PEACE OF MIND, right? Basic health care plans don’t cover all the costs that tend to follow in the wake of diagnosis, so why not be prepared?
