We love movies and this one was such an inspirational one. A great movie for the whole family to watch. When Hope Grows is the most uplifting movie we have seen in a while.
This movies about a ex-baseball player who is down in his luck and becomes a boozer, and on a run to the store to get some more beer and meets Produce, he works in the produce section at the store and has down syndrome. These two meet and become the best of friends.
Produce is a good employee that knows the SKU numbers for every fruit and vegetable in the store. As much as he longs for the employee of the month recognition, the honor always seems to elude him. Despite the lack of recognition, Produce is very friendly and makes many friends at the store. One of those friendships is with Calvin who can use a good friend to help him get his life back in order.
They teach each other things and knowing Produce will help get Calvin’s life back in order for him and his daughter. The one thing I found to be great is when anyone used the R word, Calvin would shut them down. The dramatic spark is Calvin’s desire to forge a better relationship with Katie and to be a part of her life. Self-pity, however, impedes that goal. Produce’s cheerful life and love of his job motivate Calvin to snap out of his self-imposed gloom and seek redemption.
A great movie that is bound to inspire anyone who watched it, and make you see things through the eyes of others. This is a great movie and having a son who is Autistic I can relate to this movie.
Calvin Campbell was a high school baseball star who blew his chance with the Major Leagues when a panic attack caused him to freeze up at home plate. Now, he spends his days drinking with his buddies and has little to do with raising his teenage daughter, Katie. . The dramatic spark is Calvin’s desire to forge a better relationship with Katie and to be a part of her life. Self-pity, however, impedes that goal. Produce’s cheerful life and love of his job motivate Calvin to snap out of his self-imposed gloom and seek redemption.
A great movie that the whole family can watch. We loved it
