Italy is a beautiful place, with a variety of cultures and traditions to embrace when you arrive. Any area you travel to will be slightly different, but the following list will give you an idea of the best things to do while on your travels. Take a look:
1. Try the Gelato
Italian gelato is so much better than gelato from anywhere else. Wait a second, you’re probably wondering what gelato is?! It’s ice cream, or more specifically, ice milk. They do a ton of different flavours wherever you go, including white chocolate, mint, banana, Nutella, and loads more!
2. Eat a Pizza as Big as Your Head
The pizza in Italy really is something else, and the best thing about it is that it’s as big as your head. They’re traditionally thin and crunchy, with a variety of toppings ranging from chips to seafood. You might need to share one with somebody though as you probably won’t be able to finish it!
3. Swim in Lake Garda
Lake Garda is more like a sea than a lake, but it’s a wonderful place to relax or swim. Kids love playing there, and there are plenty of places to stay nearby, so you’re just a short walk away!
4. Go For a Walk in the Picturesque Villages of Tuscany
Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places in all of Italy so make sure you go for a walk in the beautiful villages. To top off your stay, book your accommodation with Venere.
5. Order a 5 Course Meal
They do things a little differently over in Italy, for example, when you go out for a meal in the UK, you’ll usually get 3 courses consisting of a starter, main, and dessert. In Italy, you can get at least 5 courses, but the weird thing is the main parts of your dish come separately! You might get a plate of meat and sauce first, followed by tasty vegetables, followed by pasta, followed by potatoes, and so on! You really do need to be hungry on a trip to Italy.
6. Try Some of the Local Wine
No matter where you are, you’ll find some local wine on offer. You must try both white and red, but don’t get drinking too much…it’s much stronger than wine in the UK!
7. Visit Greek Ruins
Travel to Sicily and take a look at the Roman and Greek ruins – take a walk through the Valley of the Temples and view some amazing ancient history.
8. Go to Verona for the Opera
The opera might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but there’s nothing quite like sitting in a genuine amphitheatre like they used to all those years ago.
9. Go Back in Time to Pompeii
When Mount Vesuvius blew up and covered everything in sight, the residents of Pompeii in 79 A.D probably weren’t best pleased. However, this gives us a look at what life was like in a Roman city.
10. Sunbathe in Sardinia
Many places in Italy get lots of beautiful sunshine, however, Sardinia has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Even Italians come on holiday here!
