World’s Largest Oyster Festival Returns to Charleston, S.C. on Jan. 31

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, Inc. (GCRA) invites guests to attend the 33rd Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival  at Boone Hall Plantation, the world’s largest oyster festival . Out-of-town attendees can pair their Festival plans with a weekend stay in Charleston at a number of nearby hotels offering special room rates and packages. By day, guests can join in the shucking fun at the Lowcountry Oyster Festival and by night, relax in the comfort and luxury of some of the city’s most beloved accommodations. 

 

The Lowcountry Oyster Festival runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. General admission is $17.50 in advance/ $25 day of the event. VIP admission is $100 and includes access to a private lane at the entry gate as well as food, beverages and oysters in a designated tent. Children ten and under are free with paying adult. Luxury Isle of Palms Weekend Stay – “Exclusive Properties”

Available January 28February 29, 2016, this Weekend Stay package begins at $5,210 for a four-night stay and includes:

  • Accommodations in a seven-bedroom, six-bathroom home (sleeps 16 people) including ocean views, rooftop hot tub, infinity edge pool, wrap-around porches, 750-gallon saltwater acquarium and gourmet kitchen
  • $400 credit towards a private chef service of choice

The Lowcountry Oyster Festival is the world’s largest oyster festival serving over 80,000 pounds of oysters and has been named one of the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” by the Southeastern Tourism Society. Event highlights include the legendary “Oyster Shucking” and “Oyster Eating” contests, complete with live music.  In addition to $12 buckets of oysters (which include approximately three dozen oysters) available for purchase, the festival will showcase a variety of food options from local restaurants and food trucks, ensuring that event goers can eat to their hearts content.
