Well…I’m still trying to figure it out! My daughter loves Shopkins-they are tiny grocery items with funky names. She keeps saying they will be worth a lot of money when she gets older…hmm not sure about that, but I do know she isn’t the only one obsessed with these funny looking things. Every time we go to Target, she heads right to the toy aisle to stalk Shopkins and most of the time they are out. A sales manager told us they don’t last long in the store; they usually sell out within 2-3 days of getting a shipment. Funny thing is every time we go to Target my daughter finds Shopkin packs hidden behind other toys- we guess someone trying to come back and buy it.
They do come in different size packs $4.99,$9.99, $12.99 and couple other bigger packs that vary in price. As a mom, I love the prices because she can use her allowance to buy some of the packs. She will save up her money because she loves to buy the Mega Shopkins PACK because you can’t see what you are getting until you open each one individually- she loves the surprise. Plus some of the characters are Ultra and Rare so I guess those are important to get.
There are three seasons so far, and I hear more are coming. I know I’ve spent a pretty penny on these little things since my daughter has over 100 of them. When her friends come over, they play and use their imagination by playing SHOPPING. There are two other kids who come over, and so it works out perfect- the shopper, a bagger and then cashier. They took turns and played for a good 2 hours. Plus this isn’t a geared towards a gender- boys and girls all love these tiny rubber ‘food’ items that are characters. They had a blast, and now the other moms are stuck buying Shopkins now too. Sorry!
She has some in a box Shop Keeper Shopkins Storage Container and Carrying Case that holds a lot of these Shopkins things- we bought on Amazon for under $20. She placed tags inside the case for each category- fruit, vegetable, house, desserts, and much more.
I found a Shopkins Collectors Tool that my daughter can check off what Shopkins she has so that will help her keep track of all of them. I guess every year there is a meet up at Target to exchange Shopkins with other kids so you can get rid of your duplicates and try to get the whole season. I still don’t understand what the “BIG” deal is but hey she loves them and in out childhood, we all had something we collected.
You can get Shopkins at these stores:
