As an allergy sufferer, I’m not the biggest fan of the spring season, but spring does give me an excuse to do a little spring cleaning. Normally, spring marks the time of new beginnings. Just think about it. Spring is the time of the year when everything comes back after a long winter (hence the pollen), and this winter was particularly long, so you’re probably eager to get going. If you’re wondering how you can do a spring cleaning of your life, here are several ideas to get you started:
Go on a Diet
Clear the extra pounds by concentrating on what you eat every day. While the colder weather lends itself to the comfort foods, now is the time to focus on seasonal veggies and other fun spring time foods. My Fitness Pal is a great resource as it can help you track how much you’re eating. It will calculate your total calories, fat, protein and sodium, so you can make changes. It will even allow you to type in a goal weight and give you calorie limits to reach your goal. In addition, as the weather gets warmer, there’s no excuse to get on your feet and go out for a run or jog.
Clear Your Head
Meditation is becoming widely hailed as a panacea for a variety of conditions. While the jury is still out on what exactly its effects are on the body, many who do meditate and practice mindfulness do report that they feel more relaxed and ready to take on their day. And it doesn’t have to take a ton of time either. In as little as twenty minutes a day, you can gain all of the benefits from meditation. Those who practice frequently recommend building up to those twenty minutes, so you’re not starting out overwhelmed.
Get Rid of the Clutter
So if you’re like me, you probably accumulated some clutter over the winter. The spring time is the best time to clear out some of the junk you have in the home to make room for new things. Now you don’t have to hire anyone either. I did this last year, and all I did was invite a few friends home with the promise of beer and pizza and rented a trash dumpster rental. Before I knew it, I could see the floors to my home again. Garage sales are another way to go and a way to make a few bucks on all of that stuff that you don’t want anymore.
The truth is summer is almost here as Memorial Day is just a few short days away. With summer come summer vacations, block parties, and other fun events. Now is the time to take care of yourself and your home. What are some ways you spring clean your life?
