Updating Your Bedroom In Time For Fall

The changing season means it’s time for an update- but that doesn’t just have to be with your clothes and beauty products! Some new additions in the home are always welcome at this time of year. In come the cozy furnishings and colors, ready for nights cuddled up together in front of the fire. Here are some of the ways you can update your home ready for the fall.

Make Your Bed Extra Cosy

One way you can prepare for is fall by bringing out your warmest duvets, along with some fluffy new pillows and soft sheets. That way you’ll have an extra cozy bed for the colder months that you won’t want to leave! If your mattress is past it’s best, now is the perfect time for an update. Good ones are always going to be expensive, but if you check out offers such as mattress sales at Macy’s you might be able to save some cash. For added comfort and warmth you could invest in an electric blanket too. Put it on twenty minutes before getting into bed, and you’ll be extra toasty at night! Alternatively, you could use a hot water bottle, which is an easy way to warm up your bed on a chilly evening.

Change The Color Scheme

Changing the color scheme for the season doesn’t need to be expensive or difficult. If your room is already quite neutral, you will easily be able to change the accent color just with accessories. For example, you could switch out your duvet cover or throws, cushions or lampshades to a gorgeous seasonal color. Warm shades such as golds and reds work well- but any deep autumnal hues such as navy, dark green or rich purple are also good choices. It’s a nice way to bring in some drama, and make the space look perfect for the season.

Make it Smell Gorgeous

Scented candles can create a beautiful ambience. You get the flickering light source, plus they make the room smell amazing too. Go to a candle store and check out their fall range, there will be plenty on offer. If you team them up with reed diffusers and gel air fresheners, this will create a lasting fragrance in the home which will make it smell great all day. Fall scents tend to be spicy and warming so you could opt for things like gingerbread, cinnamon, and seasonal fruits.

Use Cozy Materials and Fall Decor

Chunky knit throws, fleecy cushions and deep pile rugs create a feeling of warmth in the home. Bringing in cozy materials into the room will instantly make it look comfy and inviting, perfect for the colder weather ahead. You could also add thicker curtains to your windows, which can be useful for blocking out and drafts. Adding some fall inspired decorative pieces is also a good way to make your room look ready for the season. You could look on Pinterest for some craft ideas, or check out the seasonal aisle of your favourite home decor shop for inspiration.
