Tracfone Breast Cancer Awareness #CallitPink #ad

I am participating in a VIN campaign for TracFone. I am receiving a fee for posting; however, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. I am in no way affiliated with TracFone and do not earn a commission or percent of sales.

Three years ago one of my closest friends passed away from breast cancer at the age of 29. She caught it with a self-breast exam and immediately made an appointment. We were all afraid and kept saying…..she is too young, no way she has Breast Cancer. Well, she did, and she died a year later. She left behind two young children and a caring husband. We all gathered to help her because we all knew she didn’t have much time, and we wanted to spend all the time we could with her. Even though she was young, she still got cancer, and it wasn’t stoppable due to how far it was in her system. She wished she would have got tested earlier, but no one told her she should.

When I found out about my friend I went to get my mammogram and I was two years late, I should have got it when I turned 40, and the doctor was telling me I needed one. I was stubborn but when it hit that close to home, I couldn’t fight it anymore. I was fine, but I make sure I do one every year now.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation was an organization that helped my friend with a certain treatment she needed that her insurance wouldn’t cover. I know she was able to spend more time with her family because of that treatment. We will always be grateful for that opportunity. Her family is very active in Race For The Cure and other events they hold here in California.
