Top 5 things to do with Your Kids this Summer

Have you ever thought about what to do for summer vacation for your kids so they don’t drive you crazy lol. Well I have come up with the top 5 things to do with your kids this summer.  I have a three-year old and it is hard to keep him busy for the summer . He is a constant ball of energy and we are in the what are these things stage. So I try to keep him busy and doing stuff to keep his mind going . Below are my top 5 things to do this summer with the kids.

1.) Go to the library and pick out a few books depending on the age of your child the books will be different levels and different topics. Some libraries have a summer reading program that is great for kids and also adults. Kids can go to the summer reading program for hours of fun and reading. If your library doesn’t have a reading program make your own. You start by picking certain book for example Goosebumps you make it a week-long reading and also have a theme to go with that book and even invite their friends over to join in .

2.) Water Parks are a great way to burn the summer days away and have a tone of fun. In my area they are putting water parks in bu they are not done yet so we have to travel to a water park . If you don’t have water parks or able to travel to one you can make your own up at home. Buy an inflatable pool from wal mart or a local store blow it up and fill it with water that is the swimming area (make sure there are no rocks or sticks under the pool so it doesn’t get a whole in it). Add a water sprinkler to the mix and they have several different styles at the store to choose from and they are not that expensive either also add a slip and slide and we all remember how fun those are. Set it up and get ready for a day of fun in the sun .

3.) Movie Night – Movie night is one of my favorite times because we sit and watch movies for a few hours with the family and friends. You can also make these themed as well. I know right now zombies are a big thing and there are a tone of movies to pick from and to build your theme around. This si a time when everyone can hang out in the cool air of the house and wear pj’s and just relax and also have fun. You can even invite the kids friends over to have fun. Now for the treats there is a tone of things you can make such as cake ball eye balls , green jello that looks like a brain with a mold. Zombie fingers , colored popcorn, etc

4.) Hiking- Go for a hike get the kids out and exercise them with out them knowing it. In my area we have trails we can walk and it is at a beautiful park that has a lake and playground food court. Of course you need to have a back pack for the emergency kit, bug spray, sun screen, waters because we all know that juice and pop are not a good alternative to water when it is hot out. Wear the proper shoes for hiking also no flip-flops and no sandals , wear socks and gym shoes. Clothing that is up to that person but it is more comfortable to wear short sleeve shit and shorts. it makes it easier to hike and to also be comfy, remember to also take breaks and cool down don’t need anyone over heating .

5.) Picnic or a get together Yes I know almost every family has a get together or family reunion in the summer but if your family don’t then set up a few days through  put the summer to have a picnic with the kids at the park. When you plan a picnic at the park you kill two birds with one stone. You get to have a good lunch and then the kids can play at the park its a win win for everyone.

I have become a big fan of Pinterest here lately. Pinterest has a tone of things you search for to do with the kids and if  you don’t a pinterest account Click Here and set one up You will love and be as addicted as I am . Also they have a pinterest app that you can down load on any cell phone.

I know everyone’s kids aren’t the same age or the age where they can do some of this stuff but you can adjust any of these things to fit the age or ability of your child.
