We have 7 dogs in this house and most are good and make outside, the little boys are getting there with occasional accident here and there. This is a small, light bell riveted to a flexible thin metal spring. It takes very little pressure to make the bell ring, a pleasant tinkling ‘ching’ that’s about the same pitch as an old-fashioned hotel-front-desk bell. All metal construction for durability and clear tones. This is light and thin, but seems like it will last.
So the idea is to get the dog to ring it when they need to go out, really no idea how that will work with these guys. It starts with safety and quality. Jingle bells were never designed to be used by pets. They contain several slots which your dog’s claws can become stuck in which is dangerous. Our solid metal bell contains no slots. Unlike other bells that are made with thin ribbon that can easily fray our bell is made out of solid metal. Bells that hang off door knobs may not hang low enough for puppies or small dogs to reach. It’s this attention to detail and design that separates us from the rest.
So far it has worked when they go to the door it rings and they know its time to go out and make. They are getting the bell and the going out to make. Because it’s so springy this is easy for dogs of all size to use with just a nudge of their nose or tap of their paw. Great for small dogs also, for that reason. This is a nice alternative if you’ve already tried ‘rope bells’ with the dog but want something simpler and more versatile in terms of mounting locations…and without having to drill into wood.
