Head Kandy is a family owned business formed by hair stylist Kayla who has been in the beauty industry for 10 years, and her husband Dusty. Inspired to create an innovative and affordable straightening brush, the couple sought to design the Head Kandy Brush Straightener which is not only $65.99 (compared to others on the market that are $300+), but it saves you time in the morning by making straightening your hair that much easier. Kayla claims that they have reduced hair straightening down to a simple 20 minutes max, but other testimonies have promised perfect locks in as little as 5 minutes. It definitely depends on your hair type, and I was extremely excited to try this product out for myself considering I have crazy curls! It takes me at least a half an hour to straighten my hair while sectioning it and running the straightener over my hair multiple times.
Head Kandy promises a professional salon model item with a head massage function that takes only 60 seconds to heat up. The straightener brush is 15″, designed in an anti-scald manner, and promotes frizz-free locks. It can get as hot as 450*F, which is the recommended temperature for best results on thick, wavy hair. It’s also extremely easy to use–you literally just brush your hair. The product is supposed to provide beautiful, salon-style straight hair, and I’m going to show you pictures of my experience with this–from getting out of the shower and drying my hair, to straightening it with this awesome new brush straightener!
Okay, so I wasn’t kidding when I said my hair is CRAZY CURLY. I took a shower so I’d be showing you the complete process from my clean, wet hair to styled, straight hair. In the shower, I shampooed and conditioned my hair with an argon oil product and rinsed with cold water to prevent breakage and promote shine. When I got out, I combed it with a wide-toothed comb to prevent split ends. Then I used two hydration products, a heat protectant, and a split-end serum on my hair. After that, I dried it with my hair dryer. That’s why the curls are so hectic.
While straightening my hair with the product, I sectioned the curls because they were so crazy. I put the heat up to 400*F, and started straightening it by brushing my hair. At first, I was using it like I would any other brush: way too quickly. Then I realized for best results I had to brush slowly. I could not feel the heat and I did not burn my skin while brushing. Additionally, the brush ran smoothly through my strands once I got used to the idea of it. It’s very different compared to using a straightening iron, and it only took me a few minutes to figure out how to use this: slowly brush it, and when you do, brush with purpose!!
So here we have it! This is the final product of brushing my hair with this brush straightener. My hair feels really silky, and it still has tons of volume which is something I usually lose while using a regular iron! I think the most shocking part was that it literally took me 5 minutes to do this. Once again, I sectioned my hair and brushed slowly. This really worked well, and removed all of my bumps and curls. I didn’t need to use a hair dryer or straightening iron afterwards to fix any mistakes–this is completely done with only the straightener brush, and I couldn’t be any more excited with the results.
Here’s a side view!
And a front view!
And of course, don’t forget to smile. 🙂 I definitely recommend this product to anybody looking for a quick solution to get instant, effortless, and gorgeous straight hair.
