In all of my 20+ years baking everything from cookies to bread to cakes, I’ve tried so many products trying to find the best options to prevent foods from sticking to my baking dishes. Some work better than others, but not one product has ever worked for everything I bake in my oven. Until now. COOKINA Cuisine baking sheets are the best baking sheet on the market, period, in my opinion.
These baking sheets are lightweight, easy to clean (each coming with it’s own scrubbie), and include a stainless steel ring for easy storage. Just roll the baking sheet up, slip the ring on & the product is totally contained for storage in a counter-top container or a drawer. They can be easily cut to size to fit any baking trays and pans you own, which I did with a pair of kitchen sheers. The sheets are large, measuring 15.75″ x 23.62″ (40cm x 60 cm).
These baking sheets are advertised as being 100% non-stick while being PFOA-free. PFOA, perfluorooctanoic acid (also called C8), is described on About.com as “a synthetic chemical compound that is used, along with PTFE, to manufacture certain fluoropolymer- and telomer-based consumer products, including nonstick pan coatings like Teflon. The resulting products contain no or only trace amounts of PFOA, and the Environmental Protection Agency does not have enough information about the product to suggest that using the products could cause a health risk or concern. However, because this chemical is used in the manufacturing process, it has been found in low levels in the environment and even in the bloodstream of a sample of the U.S. population. It has been found to affect the development of laboratory animals, as well as other adverse effects on their health.” Check out this webpage HERE to learn more about it. I have never heard of PFOA before, but this would definitely be of interest to anyone who is concerned about manufacturing processes and how they affect our environment and our health.
Other pros to using this non-stick alternative are that they do not absorb or retain food odors or flavors, completely replaces aluminum foil/parchment/wax paper, reversible, eliminates the need for extra oils or other means to prevent food from sticking to the pan. They are oven- and grill-safe up to 500 degrees and are easily cleaned with a damp cloth or in warm, soapy water, abrasive cleansers are not needed (in fact, are not recommended) to clean the sheets.
I have baked homemade dinner rolls, cornbread, corndogs and cookies using these amazing sheets and nothing … nothing … has stuck to them so far! Truly, I don’t ever want to bake without them ever again!
These COOKINA Cuisine baking sheets are their Christmas-themed green and red versions. Here they are fresh out of the packaging. I like how they flop right open and I didn’t have to fight to keep them from curling back up. That black blob there on the red sheet is the black scrubbie that comes with them for cleaning. Nothing sticks to them, though, and I haven’t even had to use anything other then a washcloth to clean them so far.
I prepared homemade dinner rolls from scratch (one of my most requested contributions to family get togethers) for Thanksgiving dinner. No matter whether I use wax paper or parchment, irregardless of what I coat those products with to prevent sticking, the rolls ALWAYS stick, causing me to have to use a spatula to remove it from the rolls. From the rising to the cooking phase, the COOKINA baking sheets so far outperformed every other product I’ve tried, it wasn’t even close! After the dinner rolls were baked, I grasped the corner of the baking sheet to lift it, intending to remove the whole batch from the baking pan, and that sucker slipped right out from underneath the whole batch of rolls! My mouth dropped open. My mother-in-law heard me gasp and asked what was wrong. All I could do was giggle, I was speechless!!!
These are large baking sheets and will easily cover even the largest of baking sheets or pans. I cut the red baking sheet in half and trimmed the sides by several inches and ended up with sheets to fit two 9×13 baking dishes (not only on the bottom but also up the two long sides of the dish, as seen above) with enough of the baking sheet left over to line the bottoms of a couple of standard-size bread pans.
Removing foods from COOKINA Baking Sheets is a breeze! They will pay for themselves in no time because you will never have to buy aluminum foil, parchment paper or wax paper for baking purposes again.
I will be purchasing one for my husband to use on the grill as part of his Father’s Day gift, to go along with another grill implement I have set aside for him. He is going to LOVE it!
