We all loved Superman but did you know there was a Supergirl. She was born on the doomed planet Krypton, the same time as her famous cousin Superman. She didn’t arrive at Earth until many years later, Because she was lost, and she was raised by her adopted family. The Danvers treated and loved her as their own. Kara grew up with a loving family, and she had a shadow of a foster sister Alex. She would follow her ever where and this is how she learned to hide the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin. Years later, at age 24, living in National City and working as an assistant for Catco Worldwide Media mogul Cat Grant, Kara has spent so many years trying to fit in that she forgot to ever stand out.
All that changes when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always destined to be. With the help of Daily Planet photographer James Olsen, her bioengineer sister Alex, and the research of the super-secret, off-the-grid Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), who are tasked with keeping the Earth safe from aliens, Kara takes to the skies to protect her world.
Kara’s coming out has happened just like a bunch of the villains who had been trapped in the Fort Rozz with Kara begin to emerge and cause trouble. Kara has been so used to hiding her powers that she doesn’t quite know how to use them all. Plus, one of the villains she must face is her aunt, Asta (Laura Benanti). With larger dangers lurking, can Kara embrace her powers to save her home of National City
Alex who turns out to have a secret identity of her own. Also in on Kara’s secret are reporter James Olsen (friend of Superman) and office mate Winslow Schott. She is also known to a mysterious network of secret agents, who are dealing with the presence of (surprise) many aliens on Earth. Kara must learn to work with the network and function at her day job while learning the superhero ropes. Those duties get complicated; it turns out an unsuspecting Earth is already home to some nasty aliens who will be opponents for Supergirl.
