Stop Summer Slide and Take a Bite Out of Summer Reading

Did you know that children lose two months of reading skills over the summer? Did you also know that it can take up to two months after returning to school to get a student’s brain back on track? It’s what’s referred to as “summer slide.”

Stop Summer Slide While Having Fun

The best way to stop summer slide is make sure kids have access to books over the summer. That’s where National Geographic Kids comes in. Their Almanac is the best-selling kids almanac on the market, and for good reason!

Almanac 2018 is chock full of fun facts to spark their imagination and keep their brain working. It has five hundred amazing photos that kids will enjoy poring over time and time again. Full of animals, weird but true facts, maps, games, jokes, activities, and so much more.

What we think

We got a copy of National Geographic Kids Almanac 2018 the other day, and already Liam and his friends have been engrossed. I am hearing, “Wow! Look at that!” and “Oh my gosh, did you know….” I’ve been enjoying the book as well. Learning something new is wonderful, but even more so when it’s disguised as fun, and kids don’t realize they’re learning! My husband picked it up this morning, and didn’t put it down for at least forty-five minutes. He said, “Hon, that’s a really neat book!” Don’t delay, enter our giveaway to get your very own copy!

Melissa & Doug Spark Shark Toss and Catch

Want to add some more fun to their summer? When you enter the giveaway, you’ll get a chance to win this great game by Melissa & Doug. It’s perfect for in the yard, or at the pool. The nets are sharks mouths, which is pretty darn cool! It comes with two, safe foam balls. There are even play ideas on the bottom of the packaging. As a special needs mom, I love that it’s working on my son’s motor skills, but he just thinks it’s fun to play. (Therapy is so much more successful when it’s disguised as play.)
