Squashed is a 3D board game that was invented by a 16-year-old! Nick Metzler is from Orland Park, IL. Winning Chicago Toy and Game Fair two times, Young Inventor Challenge. Nick has always enjoyed games and at the early age of 5 began designing his own.
He has since created approximately 20 games. With each he has refined his ability to recognize and design features that help make them fun. 2010 he entered and won the Young Inventor Challenge which lead him to enter again the following year.
He realized that most of his games were on flat surfaces. So he decided to make something just a little bit different. The original name was The Cube. Then he renamed it to Squashed! His friends and family love the look of this game and he won Young Inventor Challenge for the second time. Which is where Tim Kimber, CEO of PlaSmart Inc. noticed him and his game. He was beyond excited when his game was licensed. This has led to him creating his own company, Messy Desk Ideas.
Two Ways To Get Squashed
Land on or pass over another player’s space to squash one pawn at a time. Plus you can continue to move and squash other player’s up to the total shown on the die. OR land on any of the four spaces surrounding the king piece to flip the cube. The cube can be flipped in any direction to squash the pawns into the base on any side. One flip per turn and must be done at the end of your turn. Players have to flip the cube if they land on any of the four spaces surrounding the king piece.
We have had so much fun playing this game. He encourages us to think outside of the box. The flipping and moving of the cube is the fun part. Sometimes you have to choose between squashing on of your pawns to take out several of your opponents. You have to stay a step ahead and pay close attention to each move. Head on over and squash your competition!
