I love Catherine Gibson and all of her books. Sophie is such a sweet, inspiring and beautiful girl. She loves to dance, her mother made a space that was her very own dance area. She actually dreamed of having her very own dance studio.
Sophie discovered that a new dance studio had actually been opened close to her house. She asked her mother if she could join. Her mom wasn’t sure that she would be accepted but let her join. Will the other girls accept her? Will she fit in? This is a very well written book about accepting who you are.
Sophie’s next adventure is synchronized swimming. She learns how to use her deafness as an advantage. This book helps teach our children about accepting others, being kind to someone even if they are different than you and overcoming obstacles that life may throw at us.
My granddaughter loves the Sophie doll signing “I Love You.” I started that tradition when my kids were little and now we do it with my grandkids, signing I love you to them. From me to them.
Coach Bob & Me is another great story by Catherine Gibson. In this story the coach is in a wheelchair and befriends Stefan, a lonely boy that needs help getting his confidence. Read and follow along as Coach Bob helps Stefan find himself and become a confident young man.
Catherine Gibson is one of my favorite authors. This I believe is my favorite book so far. Samantha is in a wheelchair and doesn’t feel special or that she will ever do anything great. Follow along as a magician from the local circus helps her find HER something special.
Catherine Gibson taught dance and decided to take sign language because she always thought it was so beautiful and a different type of dance. While learning sign language she discovered that some of the children wanted to learn to dance. She began volunteering and teaching them through sign language and body movements.
When the kids ask her to dance she decided then and there that she wanted to be a voice for deaf children. She wants all children to be encouraged to do anything and everything they love or dream of doing. So, she started the foundation “For Children With Love.” She donates a portion of the proceeds from each book that is sold to children causes.
