Nutek Food Science was started in 2006 by Tom Manuel and Dr. Sam Rao. Their mission is simple. They want to create great tasting foods that will enhance global health and wellness. While it might sound complicated to dedicate your time to making the world a healthier place, it starts with stopping the over consumption of sodium.
Potassium chloride instead of Sodium Chloride
We eat too much sodium. Sodium is the main preservative on everything that is not fresh. While I don’t doubt the necessity of using sodium in some areas, the fact is the same. We eat too much sodium. Our bodies don’t need sodium and in the amounts of our daily diets we are on a sodium overload. Apparently, just as we eat too much sodium we don’t eat enough potassium. By using potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride you are getting the added bonus of less sodium and more potassium. It really is a win win for your body. If you were wondering, potassium chloride is found in crystal form in salt mines.
You might wonder, like me, why do we eat so much sodium? Besides how consistently it is in preserving foods, it enhances the taste of everything you put it on. Think of a potato, it tastes bland. Add a little salt and it tastes amazing.
So how do we eat food that tastes better without over loading our bodies with salt? Salt for life is the answer and I was thrilled to give it a taste. It is 75% less sodium than regular table salt. The numbers are astounding. Table salt has 590 mg in 1/4 teaspoon compared to 140mg in Salt for life. That is amazing. Especially since you are not substituting on taste just on sodium.
Salt for life has less sodium than table salt. It is actually nature’s alternative to salt. How you ask? According to their website it “combines potassium salt from ancient sea beds in Canada with sea salt from the ocean waters off the northern coast of Brazil.”
I was impressed with how much it tasted the same. Do you eat too much sodium?
