If you’re a huge downhill ski enthusiast with thoughts of making your next ski vacation a most memorable one, consider the following scenario. You and three buddies head off to Revelstoke or Golden, British Columbia –two fantastic ski locations of splendid grandeur and plenty of powder, ready to race down the Rockies. You check into a fabulous mountain resort, or for an even more remote ‘feel’, a beautiful and rustic mountain lodge or cabin. Then, instead of skiing the same over-used and over-crowded routes as everyone else, for the next few days you and your crew tackle some of the most thrilling, awe-inspiring virgin slopes in the western hemisphere having the time of your lives! How did you get to the top of the mountains to tackle these incredible vertical thrills, you ask? Why, by helicopter of course!

Helicopter skiing in British Columbia with a well-known and highly regarded company like Great Canadian Heli-Skiing is an extraordinary experience, especially in small groups. With the heli-skiing experience, for example, there are no long lines to wait in to get to the lifts. When you go on a helicopter skiing trip in BC, once you’re ready to go, you can quickly board and be on your way. By the time you board the ‘copter for your first run in the morning, guides have been up for hours, going over snow conditions and making determinations as to what area you’ll be skiing that day.
As heli-skiing British Columbia is a very personalized, customizable experience, you’ll have a tremendous amount of flexibility in your choices of runs and the type of terrain you wish to take on. You can select from varying slope angles and exposure levels, while also choosing whether you would like to include: glaciers, glades, or open bowls – the choice is yours. Not only that, but also the terrain and runs you elect to ski may be more than just breathtaking in view – many runs are between 5000-9000 feet in elevation, with at least one run exceeding 10,000 feet!

If you do choose to do some heli-skiing in this region, the birthplace of the sport, you’ll be in an area known throughout the world for its tremendous quantity and pristine quality of dry snow and incredible terrain.

Since heli-skiing is so popular in this part of the world there are numerous companies who offer it, so it is important to thoroughly research your options and choose a high-quality company that offers packages that meet your needs. When searching for the company that would be most suitable and compatible with your needs, you may want to look into the following when comparing and contrasting different heli-skiing companies:

What duration of packages do they offer?

Can you start your vacation package any day of the week?

Can you ski in a small group (4 skiers), or do you have to be bundled into a larger group?

Do they offer Unlimited Vertical?

Are lodging accommodations provided in their package plans?

These, and perhaps several additional questions, should be addressed before making a final determination on which company to trust and book your vacation with. This could indeed be a most memorable vacation experience. Ski with the heli-skiing British Columbia company you’re most comfortable with, and great memories are sure to soon follow.
