Kids are back to school, but now we have the issue of proper nutrition and hydration while they are at school. Keeping kids going throughout a long school day is very important and I wish my kids drank more water at school. In fact recent research from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, shows more than half of children and adolescents in the US aren’t getting enough hydration. While excessive dehydration is associated with serious health problems, even mild dehydration can cause issues such as headaches, irritability, poorer physical performance and reduced cognitive functioning. I’m not a good example when it comes to drinking water…I do get migraines due to lack of water. However, my daughter who is 11, LOVES water and couldn’t wait to show her friends the Nestlé Pure Life Share-A-Smile bottles. She asked if she could bring them for her friends, of course that it the point- Share! My daughter is so awesome.
She kept this one for herself:
To help make sure kids are properly hydrated when they head back to school, Nestlé Pure Life is now offering limited edition Share-a-Smile 8 oz. bottles, perfectly sized to fit in any lunch box or backpack. A recent survey conducted by Nestlé Pure Life found that a majority of kids say they prefer a homemade lunch (57%) over a school bought lunch. This preference for packed lunches offers a key hydration opportunity for moms – packing a bottle of water can help increase a child’s water intake for the day. Good habits start at home, so why not pack water instead of juice or other sugar drinks that kids don’t need anyways.
The Nestlé Pure Life Share-a-Smile bottles are now available at supermarkets and Wal-Mart’s nationwide (prices vary by retailer, ranging from $1.88/12 pack to $5.99/24 pack). For a pack of 24 of them for $5.99- is perfect. That is a months worth of water for lunches- not a bad price to pay for your kids healthy habit! Next time you are shopping look for the Share-A-Smile bottles from Nestlé Pure Life.
