We tend to spend an incredible amount of time planning every little detail of our wedding, making sure that everything is just as you want it to ensure you have a spectacular day. One thing that very often gets overlooked is the wedding pictures. A lot of people do not spend enough time in ensuring that they get the best photographer for the job, instead looking to make a decision on which photographer to use based on the overall cost. If you want to get the very best pictures possible, then it is relatively easy, find yourself the best photographer!

Many Different Choices Available

When you search for professional wedding photographers in Melbourne, or anywhere else in Australia, there are many different photographers available to take pictures of weddings. It is important that you do a search of photographers that are going to be local to the location of the wedding. The reason for this is that you will want to hire a photographer that has experience of the venue for your wedding so that they will already know the layout, and potentially have a few tricks up their sleeves for some great photo ideas. Of course, the photographer does not have to be local, but if you can find someone that has experience with your wedding venue, then they are worth talking with in more detail. Try and make yourself a list of potential photographers, and then you will want to speak to them each individually, and find out more about them and their experience.

Ask Plenty of Questions

You will want to ask each person that you speak to plenty of questions so that you can find out not only about their experience but also about them as a person. It is important that your photographer is very personable so that they can get the best out of just about everyone. Ask about their wedding experience and take a look at their portfolio. If you photographer does have experience at your venue, then it is also a good idea to look at those specific pictures if possible. Aside from asking about their experience, ask them about their inspirations as well, and try and find out a bit more about each photographer. By doing this, you will be able to work out which of the photographers are the most creative, as well as which ones you click with and have a rapport with. Choosing a grumpy person to take your pictures is one of the don’ts of organising a wedding. Remember you will be spending quite some time with them!

Making a Decision

When you have spoken to everyone on your list, which could take quite some time, you then need to sit down and go through everything once again, before you make your decision. The cost should be an important factor when considering who to use, but it should not be the only factor on which you make your decision. Just because you choose the most expensive one, does not mean that you will get the best pictures! Most weddings are planned well in advance, so you should have some time to choose before you make a decision. Do remember though that the best wedding photographers can be booked very quickly, especially if choosing a popular time of year to get married!
