I love to do arts and crafts with my grandchildren when I get to keep them. Making Books with Kids is a great new addition to our ever building library of crafting books.
Chapter 1 – Basics
I went back to this chapter several times. It explains all the basic information that you will need to fold, cut and glue all the different books that you can imagine. You will learn about the different types of papers, different folds, different glues and pastes, and all the different items you can use to make this process easier for you and your children. You will learn about book weights and book snakes. No, not real snakes! The fun kind – book snakes!
Chapter 2 – Folding Books
I never knew you could fold paper so many ways and make so many pretty things. We have had so much fun trying out all of these patterns. I like the Secret Pocket Accordion Book style, the boys liked the Jungle Book Peek a Boo my granddaughter liked the Inside-Outside Book the best. Our next play date we are going to work on mixing the different styles and see what we can come up with.
Chapter 3 – Pop-Ups
I didn’t think we could have any more fun but now we are adding pop-ups to our books – inside or on the cover. Oh my goodness!! I really don’t know who is having more fun – me or the kids. We have made an accordion snake and now we can add a nose or a mouth. The possibilities are unlimited.
Chapter 4 – Decorating Papers
This is where we learn how to change the paper we are using. We can use shaving cream, salt, soap bubbles, paste and other household items to make our paper different textures and styles. Another fun thing to do. Yes where they are younger we have made a few messes but the memories that we are making are priceless.
Chapter 5 – Sewing It All Together
My mother was a seamstress when I was a young girl so I know a few things about sewing. This is where we put everything together. All of our hard work gets put together for our final masterpiece. Let your kids be kids and if their stitches are totally even that will make your book even more precious.
This is a great how to book that helps you and your children have fun and make memories. You can purchase your very own copy from any of the following websites: Amazon/Barnes&Noble/eBookMall/GooglePlay/Lybrary
