Making bath time enjoyable is a must if you’re a parent. I’m always looking for new ways to make bathing, good, clean fun. With the holidays coming, now’s the perfect time to do themed baths.
Make Bath Time Tons of Clean Fun
My son has been a sensory seeker for as long as I could remember. (I just didn’t have a name for it until his Autism diagnosis almost seven years ago.) However, getting him into the tub wasn’t easy, as he hated to be washed with clothes. I had to think of creative ways to make bath time fun. (I also had to try tons of different materials, poufs, and sponges to find stuff he could tolerate on his skin.) The following are ways that I helped him look forward to taking a bath. Bath time can be a time for clean fun!
The holiday season is a great time to do themed baths with your kids. For Halloween, I used to dye the water green or orange with food coloring. I would add a couple drops of pumpkin scented oil too. Sprinkle in some bats, spiders, and more, to add some spooky fun. (You can get these things right at the Dollar Tree.) To make it even more fun, we do a Mad Scientist thing. I take cups and put colored water in each one. Then I give Liam a dropper and he mixes away. It helps teach them about colors, works their fine motor skills, plus it’s fun! If you can find some plastic test tubes you’ll win parent of the year!
For Christmas I dye the water red or green, and scent with peppermint essential oil. I then take some shaving cream and food coloring and make “paint.” Liam decorates the tub walls with trees, and presents, candy canes and more. It’s a blast!
Light Show Sudsy Fun
To add a touch of whimsy to any old bath, add some lights! You can get tub lights or ones made for pools. (Glow sticks work too!) Give your kid some bubbles and let them take bathing to the next level. When it comes time to wash, give them some Crazy Foam!
Crazy Foam Makes Washing Fun
Crazy Foam has been making kids smile since 1965. Well, now it’s back and it’s better than ever! We don’t always have time to create elaborate bath experiences for our kids, but they still need to bathe. So if you’re pinched for time, just grab them some Crazy Foam. The foam is a three in one, so it’s shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, all in one! You can get Wonder Woman, Batman, My Little Pony and more. My son loves that it looks like they are spitting foam out. (Boys!!) These would make great stocking stuffers for the holiday too!
