Lazy Girl Makeup Tips

Sometimes when I have plans to go out with friends, I simply don’t have enough time to wash my face and redo my makeup. There are occasions in which I’m simply too tired to redo the whole ordeal. That’s why, inspired by my laziness and will to improvise, I’ve come up with this list of 10 simple, easy tricks I use to really dramatize my daytime look for something more daring.

1.) Freshen up. – First and foremost, if you have acne cleansing wipes to remove the oils from your face or some type of cream to remove the dirt, that will really help make your skin look more fresh. Your face will immediately brighten. If you don’t have oily skin, moisturize. I recommend Cetaphil’s daily moisturizer–it’s light and efficient. Taking a cold rag underneath your eyes can also significantly reduce dark circles and puffiness if you’re exhausted from the day. It also removes any runny make up. Alternatively, if you have concealer on any type of light shimmery eyeshadow, run that under your eyes to seem more awake.

2.) Apply more eyeliner to your eyes AND eyebrows. – Eyeliner, when done correctly, can really make your eyes pop. Throughout the day, it may run or fade. If you go over the base of your eyeliner, add some to your waterline, and pinch wings on the corner of your eyes, your makeup will immediately look more intense. To do this you need an eyeliner with a very precise tip. Something like a felt tip liner or a skinny tip liner is the best choice for the corners of the eye. Jonteblu cosmetics got high-quality eyeliners at a great price that will help you achieve the perfect look. Another tip is adding eyeliner to the center arch of your eyebrow only. Because I have dark hair, I use black eyeliner, but if you are on the lighter spectrum you may want to experiment with tans and brows. This trick creates an illusion that makes your eyes look bigger, and can make you seem more awake. Also, you don’t have to go through the hassle of coloring the entire eyebrow in.

3.) Add black eyeshadow to your crease. – By adding black eyeshadow to your crease, you are giving your eyes more definition and creating a smokier look than your everyday routine calls for. When I do this, I like to use ‘crave’ from my Naked Basics pallet. It’s really dark, and when applied makes my eyes stand out dramatically. I take an angled brush, and run it from the center of my crease to the end of my eye. Then, I make a tiny line with the black, and from the corner of my eye run it to the end of my crease. I make a mini wing, and with a fluffier brush blend it together to make a dramatic smoky appearance.

4.) Draw on fake cheekbones. – If you want to look a few pounds thinner and achieve a more elegant look, take an eyeshadow brush and make a fish or duck face. Your cheekbones should pop out. Underneath, draw a line directly where the hollow starts with dark brown eyeshadow. From there, rub it in until it blends. You can add blush onto your cheekbone to make it pop more. This essentially contours your face without using whitening creams and bronzers like Kim Kardashian does.

5.) Switch out lip gloss for lip stick. – I wear light pink lip gloss almost everyday. However, if I ever wanted to resort to my lips to intensify my look for the night, I’d find a dark lipstick. Red lipstick is really popular right now, and can significantly dramatize your makeup. Other popular colors are maroon and dark pink. Some people are even experimenting with black!

6.) Add white to the inner corner of your eye. – Adding a shimmery silver/white color to the corner of your eye brightens your entire face, and draws more attention to your eyes. If you pair this with adding black to your crease, your eyes will significantly pop out more.

7.) Use white eyeliner on your waterline. – This makes your eyes look like baby doll eyes. If you put white eyeliner on your waterline, and then with a black angled brush put black powder on your bottom eyelashes in a really thin movement, your eyes will look more dramatic and bigger. You can apply the black eyeliner as much as you desire, or use none at all. The white, however, will significantly awaken you, and you can also use this to put in the corner of your eyes if it is a shimmery color.

8.) Heat your eyelash curler. – After a natural, makeup free day, you can spice up your fresh face by heating your eyelash curler with a hairdryer, and curling your eyelashes. The heat helps curl your eyelashes faster and hold the curl longer. It’s the same kind of thing you do when you curl your hair, only on your eyelashes. After, you can top this with several coats of mascara, and it can give you a falsies kind of look.

9.) Exfoliate your lips. – For bigger, more dramatic lips, you can get a poutier look by taking your toothbrush and running circular motions over your lips. This works great for me because I have small lips and I hate those spice things that burn, and then sometimes they get in your mouth and burn your tongue… This is easier because basically, while you’re brushing your teeth, you just take a moment or two to rinse off the toothpaste and then brush your lips. This takes off the dry skin, and with the help of some chapstick, lipgloss, or lipstick, your lips will look bigger and better.

10.) Apply mascara DOWNWARD. – I know, it sounds unnatural and weird. But by taking your wand and brushing downward, your eyelashes will look fuller, longer, and more voluminous. If you pair this with the black crease, your eyes will look really big, and you’ll seem much more awake.

Overall, makeup should be something you have fun with. It doesn’t always have to be a hassle. I hope these tips help you out.
